Reporter learned from the 4^th meeting of the 16 session of the National People's Congress of Chengdu held on 12rd January that Chengdu will speed up rail transit construction in 2016. In 2016, Chengdu will begin the construction of five projects including Metro line 6, 8 and 9, and accelerate the construction of nine projects including Metro line 5, 10, 18, and ensure that Metro line 3 and 1^st stage of Metro line 4 put into operation. Now the total length of Metro under construction is 373 kilometers and the government tries to open two Metro lines every year. Until 2020, the total length of Metro under running reaches 500 kilometers and the total length of Metro under construction reaches 150 kilometers. In addition, Chengdu will begin the building of tram in Dujiangyan and speed up the building of IT road and tram in Xinjin and begin transform of railway into public passenger transportation, which will bring convenience to the citizen.
